Safety Coordinator

Here is an opportunity for you to travel and see Alaska. Come be a member of our dynamic operations team. We will fly you to Kodiak Island and put you on a small plane to reach the final destination of Alitak. See the mountains, breath the fresh air and be prepared to work a very busy summer. We are a large seafood company and process an enormous amount of fish. Your desire to work hard and take on the Safety Coordinator position has many duties, which include:

  • Support Plant manager with all safety issues at remote facility
  • Conduct daily walkthrough of Plant observing production and assuring all work practices are being conducted in a safe manner, and there are no obvious safety hazards present
  • Monitor training program to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Lead training sessions as needed
  • Organize safety committee and lead safety meetings
  • Keep company procedural manuals up to date and compliant
  • Ensure accident investigations are performed following every accident or near miss
  • Conduct reviews of all accidents / injuries to identify trends- work to eliminate cause of trends
  • Work with supervisors to reduce exposure to any unsafe conditions
  • Promote safety awareness in the workplace

Our summer season is demanding with long hours and no weekends. Season runs from mid-May through early September. We need your enthusiasm and energy to keep the facility safe for our employees. Room and board is provided. Rooms are dorm style with bathrooms located in the same building.

Welder/Fabricator

Our Alaska production facility located in Alitak will be in full swing mid-April through mid-September 2007 with an opening for an experienced welder. We are looking for a qualified candidate with the following experience:

  • Fully qualified as a MIG/TIG or Stick Welder working with aluminum and heavy steel with 1/16 case wire in a production environment producing high quality welds in both flat and horizontal positions.

  • Must be able to read blue prints, diagrams and schematics.
  • Need to posses knowledge of welding techniques with a minimum of 3 years hands-on work experience.
  • Able to perform accurate shop math.
  • Meet tight deadlines.
  • Pass welding test.
  • Read shot prints.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Follow detailed welding instructions.

Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills required. Work is physical and requires exposure to cold temperatures. Floor surfaces are wet and slippery. Heavy lifting required. Must be on call 24 hours 7 days a week. Flexibility in work schedule is required. Work is fast paced and physically challenging. We will provide room and board.
