Driftwood Restaurant and Lounge

Cannon Beach, Oregon

You might just say Paul Nofield’s roots have been planted in the restaurant business since birth. His Father and his Uncle both were restaurant owners in Portland. Paul grew up in the business and is still going strong with The Driftwood Restaurant and Lounge, in beautiful downtown Cannon Beach, Oregon.

Paul doesn’t take all the credit himself for the success of this little HOT SPOT. “It takes a team” says Paul. “My managers make sure this place runs efficiently”.   Paul gives credit to his right hand men Eddie and Chrisanto in the kitchen, and Kyle in the Bar/Restaurant. “We are like family here. This is why we are successful” says Paul. It shows too…Employees that work for the restaurant usually stay a LONG time 15, 20, 30, up to 40 years.

Paul has worked and managed many restaurants over the years in Seaside and Cannon Beach. He took an ownership in Driftwood in 2003.   When he took over the Driftwood, the building was dilapidated and in need of repairs. Floors, coolers, doors, windows, bathrooms had to be repaired and replaced. In 2005, a beautiful front deck was built for diners to enjoy their meal or a cocktail outside in the warm summer sun. In 2012 he installed an open gas fire pit for diners to enjoy the outdoors in the evening as well. This is a huge draw for tourists and locals.

The menu is a made up of casual fare. Seafood, Steaks, and Burgers make up a big part of the menu. The building has a warm feel, and the customer service makes you feel like home. There is Video Poker offered in the bar (one of only 3 locations in Cannon Beach).

The Driftwood opened its doors for the first time in 1944. It remains at the same location except for a minor adjustment. The Great Alaskan Earthquake, March 27, 1964 produced a Tsunami Wave that knocked the restaurant off its foundation. They repositioned the restaurant at that point.

When we ask Paul “What’s next for The Driftwood”? He said, “We have some things up our sleeve. From October 23-31, we have our annual Pumpkin Carving contest. Customers can come any time of day pick out a pumpkin that the restaurant provides, and carve it up. Pumpkins are judged on Halloween. Winners will be announced at the Driftwoods Annual Halloween party.   Every February 29th (There is one in 2016…Leap Year) we have a big party and everyone is invited. Live Band, Food, Drinks, Prizes.”

When we Asked Paul “Why Ocean Beauty”? He replied…. “We love the Customer Service and Care that we get from Ocean Beauty. They give us Quality Products and Great Pricing.”.

Thank you to Paul and staff for being our loyal customers. Congratulations for being Ocean Beauty’s “Customer of the Month”.

Setting the Standard for Quality Since 1910.
