Date Codes

Canned Salmon:

Shelf life for our canned products is six years from production. To determine when product was produced, please refer to codes stamped on top of the can.

The third digit in the first line designates the year that the product was canned. The first three digits of the bottom line designate the month and day it was packaged. For example: if the top line of a code is 265CR - the third digit (#5) means 2005; With 908A for the second line, the first 3 digits (#'s 908) mean September 8th; So here the production date is 9/08/05, making the shelf-life best through 9/08/11.

Salmon Pouches:

The shelf life of our pouched salmon is six years from the date of production. In order to determine the production date, find the code that is printed on the back of your pouch. Determine which type of code is on the salmon pouch:

The first three numbers represent the calendar day of the year. In this case, “251” is the 251st day of the year, or September 8th.
The last letter indicates the year of production. P=2005, Q=2006.

The first number here is the year of production, 5=2005, 6=2006. The second position is the month of production using 1-9 and 0-D. The last position is the day of the month - after the number 9, A-V represent the day of the month.

The first position is the year of production:
P or S=2004
7 or 9=2005
1 or 2=2006
The second position is the month of production using 1-9 and WXZ. The last position is the day of the month - after the number 9, A-Z represent the day of the month (I, U, and Y are not used).

In all of the above examples, the production date would be September 8, 2005
